Gale-force tangerines

Here lies a tangent,
brushed by assumption,
an assault of wind.

The sheep do not accept
our flock of five strangers,
strange at once to the land
and sensation of stillness.

Forward motion
halts
at the post hitch,

all while
the pasture path rewrites itself
on the recommendation
of a train station pamphlet.
